GINGER CHICKEN

                         

       



This is a recipe which is a definite keeper,because it is easy and flavorful

Ginger chicken is an excellent curry which goes well with anything be it rice,or any Indian breads ,it is one of the dish my husband's family orders whenever they go out and are true fans of this dish,so i wanted to try this favourite at home ,but I couldn't find a promising recipe by far and then I came across this one in tastymalabarfoods blog .I have adapted that  recipe as that was a dry version and i needed gravier one


,It is spicy sweet tangy one with a delectable ginger flavour,I have seen so many recipes of ginger chicken,but this one is the best. marinated chicken is shallow fried and then mixed in a flavorful gravy  of ground ginger ,onion &tomato .


Let's see it step by step

Ingredients

For marination 

Chicken - 1 kg
Pepper powder - 1 tblsp
Soy sauce -1 tblspn
Vinegar- 1 1/2tsp


For gravy

Onions- 3 nos
Tomatoes-3 nos
Ginger- one handfull chopped
Garlic - big one 7-8 cloves
(Ginger should be more in quantity )
Green chilly - 3 medium
Butter- 4 tblspn
Tomato Ketchup- 4 tblspn
Coriander - 6- 7 no
Salt - as required
Chilly powder-2 tblspns
Kasoori methi- 1 pinch

Method

Marinate chicken pieces with pepper , soy sauce, vinegar .no need of adding salt as salt will be there in soy sauce

Heat 2 tblspns butter in a pan and shallow fry chicken pieces in high flame for about 10 minutes

Grind ginger, garlic ,onions together in a blender

Heat 2 tblspns butter in a pan and add the ground mixture

Blend tomatoes seperately

When the raw smell leaves add tomato puree

Add some salt , chilly powder

Add ketchup and chopped  green chillies

Add chicken pieces

Let it simmer and blend well

Add coriander leaves

Taste and adjust the seasoning

Add a pinch of kasoori methi ,  gives wonderful aroma

Serve  hot with indian breads or fried rice
